Andy Tracy's CX Stuff
Apparently this web site upsets CX Line Ops - so I've removed my stuff. If there's something you need, please e-mail me andytracy.hk[AT]gmail.com
It seems the company is hyper-sensitive about stuff and I am no longer willing to place stuff on the web if that's what they perceive as a threat. If you want my notes, send me an e-mail and I'll send you a cd or drop one in your mailbox.

While I agree that we need to do something about the air quality, personally I do not think wind power is an answer. With wind power capacity factors only up to 45% with the need for spinning reserves, electricity costs 7.2p/kWh compared with 2.2 for gas-fired CCGT. 140 2.3MW turbines covering 30 sq miles at Whitelee will produce an installed capacity of 322MW; 7% of the output of a nuclear plant that would need 3.5% of the area, ignoring the need for spinning reserve! In 2003, the most recent year for which figures are available, America's power-generation industry spent less on R&D as a proportion of turnover than did the country's pet-food industry.
